Applesauce Cookies


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup nuts of your choice
  • 1 cup raisins
  • ½ cup butter, or vegan butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1 egg, well beaten, or egg substitute



  • Preheat oven to 375° F
  • Mix the dry ingredients:
    • Combine flour, salt and spices
    • Add chopped nuts and raisins
  • In a separate bowl make the creamed mixture:
    • B​​eat the butter, adding sugar gradually until light 
  • In a separate bowl, make the applesauce mixture:
    • Stir the soda into the applesauce
    • Add well-beaten egg/egg substitute
  • Combine the applesauce mixture with the with the creamed mixture
  • Add dry ingredients
  • Place 1 tablespoon of dough 2-3 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
